Racing Against Drugs in Leeds, Grenville and Lanark Counties (2002 report)

In March 2000, Smiths Falls was the first in this area to host Racing Against Drugs. The event was held at the Rideau Regional Centre in the gymnasium, auditorium and areas of one of their parking lots. The event was considered a major success by the organizers, the schools, the students and the community. There were over 2,600 children who participated and we had at least an additional 400 adults attend.

In 2001, the event was moved to Brockville Memorial Centre, with the City of Brockville providing the space as an in-kind contribution. It was once again a success with over 2000 attending and with substantial support of city, local business and service agencies.
